How Compressors Work

Another type of air compressors is rotary screw compressors. Rotary screw compressors are more commonly used in small applications, because they can be fixed onto a workbench without any special tools. These are also used as oil compressors, because the rotary screw part is not oil-injected. The compressor rotates a shaft to apply air compression, and because it has fewer parts, they are easier to repair or replace.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both types of compressors, although the advantages of rotary screw air compressors generate enough pressure that continuous use is not a concern. Electricity generated by electric motors greatly reduces the time required to maintain the pressure.
